In Memory of MSG Anthony Yost 

Master Sergeant Anthony R. C. Yost, 39, of Flint, Michigan, died in Mosul, Iraq on November 19, 2005 while searching a building for suspected insurgents.  Yost was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group, Fort Bragg, N.C.


Tony Yost was killed in an explosion during a raid on an Al Qaeda target.  He was the Team Sergeant of ODA 381.  

He enlisted in the Army in 1987.  He was qualified as a Ranger, Sniper, Free Fall Jumpmaster, Weapons Specialist and many other schools.  In addition to 3rd Special Forces his past assignments included the 10th Special Forces Group and USASWCS.

Yost was born in Oklahoma and raised in Flint, Michigan.  Yost was a 1984 graduate of Millington High School, Michigan.  While in high school he played on the basketball, baseball and football teams.  His hobbies included motorcycling, gunsmithing, and hunting.

His awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, six Army Commendation Medals, six Army Achievement Medals, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Kosovo Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO Medal, Senior Parachutist Badge, Military Freefall Master Parachutist Badge, Driver and Mechanic Badges, and the Special Forces Tab.

He is survived by a daughter age 13 and a son age 2.  His wife lives in North Carolina.
